Sailing to Point Firman

A wonderful day for sailing. The sky was bright, the water deep blue, temperature was moderate, the seas calm and the wind steady. I met several of my sailing goals. One I sailed to Point Firman. Why is that a goal, well another goal is to sail to Catalina Island and Point Firman is about a one-third of the distance, which makes the round trip two-thirds. For me a good warm-up and a subtle way to get Arlene used to sailing long distance in the boat with out apprehension.

Another goal, one which I have no control, is we saw a whale. We were sailing home and I heard the blow, twice, I looked around and then saw the blow and the back of the whale. While I was trying to get a picture, while steering the boat, Arlene reported that she saw the tail. I only saw the blow and the back. I didn't even realize I got a picture until we came home and I reviewed the images.
