Second Tuesday Night Race

Our second Tuesday Night race opened with extreemly light wind. We were not well positioned, with the light winds it took three minutes to get to the starting line, and the wind was light all the way down the main channel. The race was first shortened to the end of the main channel, but the wind picked up and we went to the last buoy on the south side before the breakwater. With the wind from the south we didn't have to tack up the channel to the breakwater. We tried to set the whisker pole to go down the channel, but with the wind from the south it wasn't necessary as we were on a beam reach down.
We did set the whisker pole to go the final run to the finish. Worked well. I talked with a rigger and next week he will install a pole lift or stay-sail line. This will make setting the whisker pole easier and safer.
We finished third again this week, but this time we were in the correct class and thus 3rd of 3. We will do better next week.
After the race we went to the Shack as usual, however, since it was St. Patrick's Day the removed some tables for karioke and were full, so we went down the street to Mo's, their special of the day was Corned Beef and Cabbage.
Bigger crew this week, thanks to Gustavo, Doug, David H. and Scott we had a good time.
